Compassionate Care for Children Diagnosed with Autism and for their Families

Dealing with autism is a challenge. Each individual is unique. We work to develop sympathetic empathy and rapport, with the goal of creating real communication within a deep sense of family integration, and to develop the child’s communication, the child’s social skills, and the child’s ability to live a satisfying life.

Informed Therapy

Sessions stress sensory sensitivity so that the child is comfortable and involved. Therapy is gentle and adapted to the child’s individuality, and includes a structured application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy customized to the patterns of the child’s thought and activity. The goal is to improve the child’s communication and the child’s cognitive abilities: attention, memory, problem-solving, and social adaptation.

Therapy for Emotions & Self-Regulation

We work to equip the child with tools that help him/her manage emotions, reduce anxiety, and build confidence in managing daily life. We use deep breathing, movement breaks, and weighted blankets to help in self-regulation. We use Social-Emotional Learning Programs to help the child recognize emotions and build social coping skills. Mindfulness and Grounding Techniques reduce stress and help to balance emotions.

Social and Life Skills

We stress therapy that is supportive to enable the child to make meaningful connections and feel independent. We provide step-by step guidance for developing independent life skills. We build resilience and confidence with activities that enhance the child’s sense of being safe, of having self-assurance and emotional strength.

Parent and Family Support

Our whole-family approach provides the tools for parents and caregivers to best support the child. We provide counseling and coaching in understanding autism’s impact and in creating a supportive home environment. We provide training in how to navigate the child’s emotional behaviors, and can arrange support groups to give peer support and to share what you have learned with others and learn from their experiences.

School & Community Advocacy

We work to create an inclusive and supportive environment at school and in the community. We advocate for autism-informed accommodation to meet the child’s needs through IEP/504 Plan support. We can train Educators and Caregivers to provide effective and safe space for the child, and work to help the child engage in social settings at a workable pace.
